ENROLLMENT FORMS 2019 / 2020 ENROLLMENT LITTLE LAMBS TEACHERS AND STAFF TEACHERS MISS BLACK MR. RICHIE MRS. MOERI | TODDLERS AIDES/STAFF MISS DEFOOR MISS LEE MISS SCHRAMM We believe that children are a trust from God. To keep and protect that trust, we first provide them with an increasing knowledge of their Savior in a safe, loving, and warm environment. We then work to stimulate social and academic growth through open-ended learning experiences such as guided exploration, hands-on activities, and teacher modeling. We also believe that children have individual needs and varying abilities that are not based solely on age. Therefore, the Little Lambs Preschool program works to meet each child at his own level, which builds upon the child’s strengths. Finally, we believe that any successful early childhood program is based on a close working relationship with the families that it serves. We encourage and welcome family involvement, as it is an essential and vital component in the learning process. PROGRAM PRICING *Rates may change according to program discretion. - WHAT TO EXPECT | Shepherdofthehills
SERVICES & WORSHIP Whether you are lifelong Christian, a new believer, or someone just searching for answers our goal is for you to feel welcome and comfortable at Shepherd of the Hills. Because we know that stepping into a church for the first time can be difficult, we hope this will answer some questions you may have. WHAT TO EXPECT WORSHIP TIMES Q. What makes Shepherd of the Hills different from other churches in the Twin Ports? A. At Shepherd of the Hills, we teach Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. We believe in one Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We hope in this way we are the same as other churches in town. Our prayer and desire, however, is that Shepherd of the Hills will lead the way with preaching and teaching from God's Word. We do this by knowing and caring for one another. We do this as our worship and Bible Studies all focus on the good news of Jesus. We may not be the biggest church in the Duluth area. We just want you to see us as a church that shows our love for God and others. Q. What is your worship like? A. We work very hard to make sure worship has something for everyone. You will find some contemporary music and traditional hymns. Our message is geared toward kids, teens, and adults. We offer a children’s message every Sunday, so kids can be engaged and learning the good news of Jesus. We want all ages and all backgrounds to feel comfortable. To do this we have the entire service printed out in a worship folder for you to follow along. Q. Am I supposed to dress up? A. Only if you would like. We live in a world where too often people are judged by appearance or looks. At Shepherd of the Hills we are happy you are here whether you’re wearing jeans and a t-shirt or a suit or a dress. Because here we can tell you about Jesus and what he has done for you and the impact he makes in your life. Q. What makes you a Lutheran church? A. The name "Lutheran" has been used to describe a broad group of teachings. Much like there are different types of Baptists, Presbyterians, and other groups, there are also different types of Lutherans, which makes answering the question a little difficult. You can find a more in-depth answer to the question here (link to our beliefs). The shorter answer to "What makes Shepherd of the Hills a Lutheran Church?" could be summarized this way: The entire Bible is the Word of God. We are saved only through faith in Jesus. We are saved not by our own works, but by the grace of God. Every Sunday at 9:00 AM Every Wednesday at 7:00 PM
- LEADERSHIP | Shepherdofthehills
CHURCH LEADERSHIP A leader serves people by freeing them to use their various gifts and abilities in working toward a common goal. The orchestra conductor frees musicians to make beautiful music together by providing them with a down beat, crescendo indications, and sectional balance. Without a conductor, musicians doing their own thing create dissonance and noise. CHURCH COUNCIL | ELDERS | DEACONESS
- REGATHERING FOR WORSHIP | Shepherdofthehills
REGATHERING FOR WORSHIP RESERVE YOUR SPACE Over the last few months, we have been a church scattered, and we are so excited to be able to begin regathering in person! Join us for in-person services on Sundays at 9:00 AM and Wednesdays at 7:00 PM Due to physical distancing requirements, church will look a little different. Learn more below. We know that some of you may not be ready or able to gather in person, and that’s okay! We will continue to provide digital services for Worship on Sundays . Advanced reservations are required. No more than 95 people can be admitted to either service. Why it's important for SOTH to have records of registrations - notify if a member is positive notify those who attended the same day/time. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early for their selected service time. We will be using the front entrance doors only. All other entrances will remain closed. Out of an abundance of love for others, masks will be required in the building. Social distancing must be maintained at all times. Markers and greeters will assist in maintaining distancing. Giving stations will be provided for those who don’t use electronic giving. Ushers will assist families and individuals with seating, exiting, and maintaining distancing High-Risk Individuals Those who may be high-risk individuals are encouraged to stay home and participate in the services via our service streams. The links are available for viewing on the Shepherd of the Hills Facebook page, YouTube channel, weekly email, and website. . Frequently Asked Questions WILL MY FAMILY BE REQUIRED TO PRE-REGISTER IN ORDER TO ATTEND A WORSHIP GATHERING? We are excited to regather in person! To ensure physical distancing, we request everyone who plans to attend a gathering in person to pre-register. This step also enables us to work with the St, Louis County Public Health Services and is an added layer of safety for our congregation. If an individual or family forgets to register, we will have a small number of seats available, assuming we are not at capacity. They will, however, have their names entered into the system. WILL MY FAMILY BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK IN ORDER TO ATTEND? We believe the message of the gospel is love trumps rights. Out of an abundance of love for others, we will require every person over four years of age to wear a mask while on the property – even while outdoors. Each of our volunteers and staff will wear a mask in order to provide a layer of protection for attendees. If you do not have a mask, we have disposable masks available for you to wear and take home. WILL THERE BE A SPECIFIC ENTRANCE TO USE? Yes. For your safety and security, we will use only the main entrance to the building. Doors will be opened 30 minutes prior to worship – Sundays at 8:30 for the 9:00 AM service and 6:30 PM for the 7:00 PM Wednesday service. HOW WILL WE ENSURE THAT THE COMMON AREAS ARE SAFE AND SOCIAL DISTANCING IS BEING OBSERVED? We will be limiting the entrance to the sanctuary. We encourage guests to go directly into the sanctuary and be seated. Please do not hang out in the entryway area. We want to make the experience as touch-free as possible, we will temporarily not have any consumables after our services. A smile to share with everyone, a mask, and your reservation confirmation. Please also bring a spirit of expectancy and a heart of worship. WHAT SHOULD MY FAMILY BRING WITH THEM? WILL SOTH BE PROVIDING HAND SANITIZING STATIONS? Yes! Hand sanitizer areas are available in the entryway. For this initial season of re-gathering, we ask that everyone in attendance practice physical distancing and refrain from sitting with friends. We believe our role as church leaders is to provide a safe, spacious, and sanitized gathering for families to come and worship together. IS IT OKAY FOR OUR FAMILY TO RESERVE SEATS AND SIT WITH FRIENDS THAT WE HAVE BEEN SOCIALIZING WITH, OUTSIDE OF THE WEEKEND GATHERING? HOW WILL ATTENDEES INSIDE THE SANCTUARY BE DISMISSED SO THAT WE ARE STAYING IN COMPLIANCE WITH SOCIAL DISTANCING? Our ushering team will dismiss rows individually from back to front. WILL THERE BE ANY SPECIAL RESERVED SEATING FOR VULNERABLE ATTENDEES AND THEIR FAMILY? We strongly encourage those individuals who are considered to be high-risk to participate in the services at home via our online service resources. Our online services are available on Facebook, YouTube, in the SOTH weekly worship service emails, or here on our website. HOW WILL WE GIVE OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS? There are multiple ways to give, and each option is safe and secure. Give online at duluth-lutheran.com /give. Give in person. Drop your offering into the collection plates provided in the back of the sanctuary. Give by mail to Shepherd of the Hills Attn. Robert Doblar 802 Maple Grove Road, Duluth, MN, 55811 WILL THERE BE BIBLE STUDY OR SUNDAY SCHOOL GROUPS ON SUNDAYS? We love your families and can’t wait to open Sunday after-worship programs again, however, we will not be offering snacks, studies, or group singing in person at this time. WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMEONE WAS CONFIRMED TO HAVE COVID-19 AFTER THEY ATTENDED A SERVICE? If a guest is identified as COVID-19 positive, the St. Louis County Public Health Services will interview the guest and notify Shepherd of the Hills if needed. We will assist in contact tracing based on dates and registrations. A county exposure letter will be sent and the county will follow up with interviews and quarantines as needed.
